At 11:00 AM on December 4th, of Buddhist Era 2562 (2018), H.E. Rahim Hyat Qureshi, Pakistani Ambassador to Korea paid a courtesy call on the President of Jogye Order Ven. Wonhaeng at the Memorial Hall of Korean Buddhist History and Culture.

He expressed his gratitude for the friendship between the two countries by telling the story of Ven. Malananda from modern day Pakistan, who brought Buddhism to Baekje in 384 A.C. Also, H.E. Qureshi expressed his wish for a more active exchange between Pakistan and Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism as he reminded the fact that Pakistan is not only the origin of Gandhara style Buddhist art but also is a destination described in the “Memoir of the pilgrimage to the five kingdoms of India“ written by Ven. Hyecho from Silla.
