Communique of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism  on the Korean Hostages by Taliban in Afghanistan

The Jogye Order has been praying for the release and safe return of 23 Korean hostages kidnaped by Taliban militants since their abduction on the 19th of July. It is, however, greatly deplorable that two persons have been executed, and we pay our deep condolences for the victims and their families.

We trust that our government has been trying their best for the safety and early release of the hostages, but we urge again that our government should negotiate with Taliban and other friendly countries for the solution of the issue wisely and peacefully.

We also urge the Afghan government and the United States to assume more positive actions regarding the safety and release of the hostages for the peace of the world. We pray again for the early release of the hostages with all the citizens at home.
